Restore virtual machines backuped using VDR on standalone ESXi host

Hi,

I have 2 ESX hosts, 1 vCenter (IBM blades), 1 storage (IBM DS3400) and 1 QNAP NAS (used as destination for Data Recovery - 1.2.1).

Essentials Plus licensing.

In a case of disaster, can I restore VMs from NAS on some standalone ESXi server?

And if yes, any idea how?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to have vCenter to use vDR on the new host. I've done an experiment where I did just that http://whomademeanexpert.com/2011/06/23/vdr-disaster-recovery-experiment/ . Just keep up with your licensing, and if your building burns down or something, just install vCenter as a VM on the new ESXi host, install vDR, point it at your old vDR destination, and it should see the backups. So yes, you can restore to an entirely differnt host! Hope that helps...
