Problem with VMware Data Recovery 1.2

I need a help with Data Recovery ver 1.2. I use vSphere 4.1 standard version and vCenter version 4.1. During making selection of VMs (new job creation process) I receive information saing "One or more of selected virtual machines are on an licenced host. .....". I've checked my license and it shows the feature is included. Have anybody had such issue?

Hi Andrzej,

On the vCenter server if you click on Home > Admininstration > Licensing the check the license for the ESX host which has the VM's provisioned which report an error during backup. They should have Enterprise or Enterprise plus license, is that what you have for the ESX hosts ?

Data Recovery is not available with vSphere Standard licence. Only Advanced and higher. That means you can't backup a VM that runs on a Standard server.

If it is as you said, so what for is it for dowanload at standard level o f licensing?

I've asked the license deliverer and they confirm, the license for VMware Data Recovery is included in my license.

Hi,

Check this link http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/vsphere_purchaseoptions.html for vCenter Foundation & vCenter Standard the license for Data Recovery is "Sold Separately".

The best way to check if you have the license if by selecting the ESX host and click on configuration and click on Licensed Features if you see Data Recovery listed you have the license, if not take this up with the vendor who sold the licenses.
