in the documentation it mentions that for windows, VMware will execute all of the scripts in c:\Program Files\VMware\VMwareTools\backupScipts.d
or /usr/sbin/pre-freeze-script
I assume /usr/sbin/pre-freeze-script is a file name and not a diretcory, (can someone verify?)
for c"\....\backupScripts.d - what are the allowable file types in this directory? will VMware just try to execute all files in this directory so exe, vbs, bat are all ok?
thanks,
jonathan
/usr/sbin/pre-freeze-script and /usr/sbin/post-thaw-script are files, not directories.
I wrote a article about Linux freeze Scripts with further information about:
http://www.virten.net/2012/05/filesystem-consistent-linux-backups-with-vmware/
You can't put executables inside the Windows Script directory, only scripts. And i havn't heard of .vbs scripts, only .bat Files.
Please also have a look at this KB article to check where the scripts should be located depending on the ESX version:
