I was looking for a product which will run automatic P2V backups on a regular basis to provide DR for the physical linux boxes; like vizioncore P2V DR module.

Convertor will not provide this flexibility.

Thanks

what about replicating data?

remember that P2V Linux migrations are a combination of science, art and luck

There is also a simply way:

  • create the VM copy the first time (maybe with Converter 4.0)

  • manually boot your VM with no active service and with another IP (for example you can boot with init 1 and manually configure the network with ifconfig and route commands)

  • use rsync to do scheduled file sincronization (it can handle only the difference)

  • when your reboot the VM it is ready with the right configuration and the last data.

If you Linux box is a DBMS, you have to modify this schema cause you cannot use a rsync on DMBS files that are in use.
