So have played about with VDR and so far uncovered enough to probably let it replace vRanger. lack of file restore is a minor pain, but you can redirect the restores to another VM anyways.
So question is: Is it safe to mirror the backup database (we could us Continuous Access on our HP EVA's) or back it up from a CIFS volume (with say, MS Data Protection Manager). Clearly there could be issues if the VDR applianace is running at the time, but I guess if the backup/mirror occurs when no backups are running all should be safe?
basically how robust is the dedupe store?
