Merge/Recover data from delta.vmdk

Hi,

I cancelled in the middle of snapshot deleting process all the snapshot configuration file deleted. I able up the vm but the data's are available before the snapshot date. In datastore i can see delta & snapshot files how merge/recover data from delta.vmdk.

WHMSG.vmdk

WHMSG-flat.vmdk - 40GB

WHMSG_1.vmdk

WHMSG_1-flat.vmdk - 500 GB

WHMSG_1-00001-delta.vmdk - 75GB -> i want restore/merge this vmdk.

note: 2 Hard disk (40GB & 500 GB)

Unless already done, shutdown the VM immediately to avoid further data corruption!

In order to be able to help:

• post a complete list of files, i.e. the output of ls -lisa
• attach WHMSG_1.vmdk as well as WHMSG.vmx to a reply post

I'm afraid there's not much I can do. The entries in the configuration files, as well as the files' time stamps all look ok.

The .vmsd file's time stamp (it stores information about snapshots) is Aug, 7th though, which means that the issue already occurred some days ago!? When did the issue occur?

Do you remember how many snapshots the VM had, before you started the deleting process?

I created only one snapshot....

I resolved by cloning the WHMSG_1.vmdk the data are back
