I have an instance of VDR, which holds backups of 50 or so virtual servers. Yesterday when I arrived at work, I found integrity check to be at 11%. When I left that day some 9 hours later, it was at 48%.
Today when I arrived, I found a new integrity check to be at 11%.
Is it expected for it to run every day, or is it somehow on repeat in my case?
Can this be controlled, SHOULD this be controlled?
The 50 virtual machines takes up about 1.1TB of disk space, at the moment located on an iSCSI box with 16 SAS disks, with an average of less than 300 IOPS (read+write) when integrity check or backup is not made.
Thanks in advance,
Hi,
you can modify Integrity Check frequency by creating and populating /var/vmware/datarecovery/datarecovery.ini.
You can find all the available options in this KB article:
Default schedule is 1, which means every day. Maybe your backup size is too big to be checked in one day, before another integrity check starts. Try to set maybe every two or more days.
Regards
Luca.

Thanks Luca,
Is it recommended to DedupeCheckOnRecatalog=1 too?
Default for this value is 0, this to me means vmware itself does not activate this parameter.
I've not so deep knowledge of vdr to tell you if is better to set this value on or off.
Regards,
Luca.
