How to backup without vcb - vsphere 4

Hi all,

we have a Vsphere 4.0 environment.

The VCB server went down and some days are required to repair it.

I need urgently to get a VM from the vsphere cluster in a format suitable for vmware player.

Is there a way to do this without VCB ?

I can get VM files using winscp but I don't know if a tool is available to convert to the format for the player.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Valter

you could use vmware data recovery (free which certain edition) or a trial copy of it. other 3rd party like quest' vranger and veeam backup is good to try also.

what about using a VMware Converter Standalone, it is free for download, just install it on the host that the VMware Player was installed.

This is the "How to do it": http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-14184

If it is useful, would u please mark it as "Helpful" or "Correct"?

Thank u

Thanks,

I used veeam backup and it worked fine.  Very good and easy product !

I was able to get the files in a right format for vmware converter using the copy option.

Thanks for the suggestion.
