How to Test Backup of VM (Recovery)

Hi,

After Installation of Data Recovery Backup 2.0 on ESX 4.1 how we can test a backup of VM by crashing intentionally to check the backup that it can work same as like original?

You could do a restore to an alternate location to test that your VM could be brought back properly. Place it on another isolated vSwitch to not interfer with the production VM.

(Or try with a test VM by deleting it and do a restore.)

Lot of applications, both agents and full-VM backups are a good approach. Restore the backup in another location and test test test these backups, to ensure you are getting what you expect.

Basically as has been posted, pick a point in time of your original VM so you know the state, etc. Take a backup. Then restore that backup to another location (different network possible so you can bring it up on the network) and test the functionality.
