In the documentation of VDR can be found as follows:

Click the Network tab and click Proxy to configure proxy settings. You can configure the backup appliance

to use a proxy server and provide the proxy server's name or IP address and port.

How VDR uses internet proxy server?

A proxy server does not imply Internet. It could be any proxy server, some sites don't have direct access to machines, such as NAS storage, maybe those sites need a proxy server.

Ok, maybe. But, what then could be this "proxy"? Or/And, how exactly understand which connection VDR is uses through the proxy? What manual this describes?
