Help with a backup plan

Hello,

I am trying to build a backup plan for a server. We are planning on running 4 VMs using vSphere 5 Essentials. What I want to be able to do is perform hourly incremental backups of the entire VM as an image, and upload that image to Amazon's storage cloud. Is there a built in feature to do incremental backups without having to stop the VM, or another program? Is the incremental backup size fairly small? I have figured out how to do full images, but we can't upload 1TB to the cloud every hour. I want to be uploading the VM every hour so at most, if something ever happens (knock on wood) I can get Amazon to move my VM image over to the live cloud and run that VM from there, and at most have only lost an hour of data.

Thanks for any help, I am completely new to VMs and we need a disaster recovery/business continuity plan for these new servers.

Thanks,

Paul

Essentials supports the vSphere Storage APIs so you can look at the many backup solutions out there which leverage them for backups.
