Hello,
How often is this failure seen?
And also Network connectivity has not dropped anytime, as you are copying a 1 TB disk all together?
Thanks
Rahul
Hi Rahul!
I couldn't make backup from this server never, from the others it is working.
The vcbmounter.exe breaks up the vmdk into 2 gigabyte pieces, it wouldn't be allowed drop the network connectivity, but your idea good, we will check it!
And the other interesting thing is, the error number always changes. (The last was 5292, the previous were other numbers)
Tamas
Thanks Tamas, Will it be possible for you to reduce the 2nd VMDK size to say 900 GB and try the same? (I understand this isnt possible if its a production VM, just in case if its a test VM)only to nail it down on the reason being 1 TB.
There is a 1 TB limitation for NBD backups in VCB. Please refer to the Virtual Machine Backup Guide.
if you are using ESX35, then you can take a look at http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_vm_backup.pdf Page 26.
Thanks,
Lakshmi.
Hi Rahul!
I don't know yet...
It is a production VM, but the VCB is the easier way to backup our servers. At first we are finding other facilities for example conect the backup server and SAN storage with FC. Sorry...
Accordint to Lakshmi Gayatri, the reason of the problem is the size.
"If you plan to use Consolidated Backup in the LAN mode, the size of your virtual disk files should not exceed 1TB."
Tamas
Hi Lakshimi!
Thank you for your answer!
And what about vSphere? It will work, if I use it?
Thanks!
Tamas
No, the behaviour is the same even with vSphere.
Thanks
Lakshmi.
