ESXi Infrastructure without shared Storage (HA Possible? Backup & Recovery options?)

I have a two node ESXi solution that I want to add redundancy to, the issue is I don't have any shared storage but want to offer HA or at best some disaster recovery options for the customer.

Is HA available without shared storage, if not is there a relatively cheap option to get this up and running (Budget constraints will not allow to add a SAN).

What are people's recommendations for a (On site) disaster recovery solution?

Many thanks.

Hi,

No, you can't but:

Try with Openfiler (Openfiler | Open Source Storage Managment Appliance)

You can create shared Storage and trick to vCenter. HA, DRS, vMotion... is now allowed.

hi,

Like JM wrote thare is no solution for your requirements, but I can suggest some cheap server, install on this for example FreeNas and configure as iSCSI.

Regards,

Sebastian

Thanks guy's,

I was reading through the VMware FAQ's and it got a little confusing as they have so many products available now and there seems to be a ton of options to chose from.
