Differences between VDP and Vmware data recovery

hi, I wonder if vSphere5.1 has changed the name of vmware data recovery to VMware Data Protection(VDP).

I found the download link shows Vmware data recovery before vSphere5.0 and Vmware data protection after vSphere5.1.

I think VDP is the same thing to Vmware Data recvoery, but I want to confirm here.

Hi,

You can find more information here : https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/products/vsphere/VMware-vSphere-Data-Protection-Product-FAQ.pdf

Does vSphere Data Protection replace VMware Data Recovery?

Yes. vSphere Data Protection replaces the legacy VMware

Data Recovery feature in vSphere. vSphere Data Protection

provides equivalent scalability to VMware Data Recovery with

a more robust and efficient backup engine.

Julien.
