Can not ping esxi servers thru data recovery appliance

I have VMware 4.1 esxi servers that are on 192.168.1.x network.  Each has a network connected to 10.64.236.x.  I also have a vconsole connected to both esxi servers.  I have verified ports 443, 902 are opened on both esxi servers 22024 is not opened.

vConsole is on 10.64.236.x segment, I can ping it thru data recovery but I cannot ping the ip address of either esxi servers.  What am I missing?

Does the ESXi Host have a vmkernel port configured on the 192.168.1.x network or just a Virtual Machine Port Group?

If the ESXi does not have a vmkernel port on the 192.168.1.x network then you will not be able to ping it.
