Dear guys,
i;m new in VDP and it seems i immediately experience problems.
Deployed the appliance , all good, created a test backup , all good.
When i manually start the backup i get nothing running, no task in activity , no error.
Restarted the MSC and the appliance several times...
Any idea ?
Manhy thanks in advance.
Daniele
Can you attach vdr-server.log from the appliance. Path: (\usr\local\avamar\var\vdr\server_logs)
Also run the backup job again and give the exact time-stamp so it helps me if i look in the log file.
Hi,
look under configuration.
The VDP appliance has a maintenance window configured and might be in Read-Only mode. It won't run your jobs then.

i have set backup window from 2 PM for 12 hours, so if i want to run backup it should be ok (CET+1)
Can you paste the snip from the log file when you actually started backup
ssh to the appliance
tail -f \usr\local\avamar\var\vdr\server_logs\vdr-server.log
Run the backup now
And copy me the output from tail command you are running on the appliance
does VDP need permissions on the vcenter ? or somewhere ?
Yes it does need permission. The required permission are written down here:
Page 93: "Minimum Required vCenter User Account Permissions"
permissions were ok, i just changed the format from administrator@system-domain to system-domain\administrator
now i'm rebooting the appliance again
still having the problem
I should login into the web client with the credentials ( system-domain\administrator). Hope you are doing the same ?
i'm logging in with my account which is administrator full.
VDP is logging to VC with other credentials and it has permissions correctly set.
I fear i have this :
VMware KB: VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.1.x fails to start backup jobs
but this cannot work for me, i have more than 1300 DS to check in my vcenter....
suddenly now my backup job started, do not ask me why
