setting up a back end network for HA and vMotion

So I am new to vCenter and wanting to setup a seperate backend network for vMotion and HA/FT. Right now I have 2 host and 2 iSCSI box. The 2 host connect to the iscsi box through a gig switch. I have a second gig switch that I can have a nic from each host and iscsci to use for vmotion and such but I do not know how to configure this. My network is on a 192.168.1.x. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello.

Note: This discussion was moved from the VMware vCenter™ Server community to the Availability: HA & FT community.

What versions of the software are you working with? The official product documentation contains all the steps to configure these connections.

Good Luck!

HA does not require a separate connection.  Your mgmt portgroup will be used for those heartbeats.

The iSCSI connection doesn't need to go to the 2nd switch, per se.  You should 2 switches for redundancy, but iSCSI is not involved in the vMotion.

I would create a switch for management, this is where your vmkernel ports will go for mgmt, vmotion, and ft, ideally with 3 pNICs here, but two should suffice.

A separate vSwitch for iSCSI with 2 pNICs here.
