hi! I tried to configure HA and it's not successful. How do i move my esx host from the HA cluster? What's the correct procedure to move the host and vms from the HA cluster?
Thx.
well the proper way to do it would be to put it in maintenance mode, then remove it from the cluster.
However, you can do a disconnect and remove as well. Should have no impact on your running guests.
hi! by putting the esx into maintenance mode....does that mean that the vm need to be shut down first? will that cause a restart to the esx server?
thx.
If you have DRS set to fully automated the guests will be migrated to other hosts in the cluster. If you don't have DRS set to fully automated you will have to manually vmotion them off the host before it will go into maintenance mode.
Host will only go into maintenance mode if there are no running guests.
Have a look at this tip about HA stopping:

iSCSI SAN software

Follow Troy instructions.
Then, to remove the HA agent, follow:

Maybe we should start at the beginning guys, which error do you receive? What doesn't work?

hi! I managed to configure the HA. The reason it doesn't work previously is that, it can resolve the esx host name. Once i add that host name into my dns svr, it worked.
Now just wonder how do i remove my esx hosts from the HA if i would to do so in the future
thx
