My issue is that we recently purchased a new server to add to our production cluster but cannot vmotion between the existing servers and the new server as it comes back with KB 1993 error (incompatible processor).
We are currently running ESX3.0.3 enterprise on our production cluster.
The existing server hardware we are running on our production cluster is HP Proliant DL380 G5 Intel Xeon E5345 2.33 Ghz processor.
The new server we aquired to add to our production cluster has the following spec: HP Proliant DL380 G5 Xeon X5450 3.00Ghz processor.
I was mistaken thinking that these processors were compatible with the existing servers!!!
Would my issue be solved if I upgraded ESX 3.0.2 to VShere4. Does VSphere have better CPU compatibility for the processor types mentioned above??
Any assistance is greatly appreseated.
