Is FT for multi vCPUs coming soon?

Is anyone aware if VMware plans to support multi vCPU FT in the coming future?  (vSphere 5.5?, if so what is the release date?)  If not, does anyone know of a software plugin that can be used to support Multi vCPU Fault Tolerance within vCenter / vSphere?

As far as I have heard it is still coming but you will not get a date until VMware is ready to release and there are no plugins vailable -

I do not see it in near future. I feel VMware will not lift that limit as it will affect the vCenter heartbeat sales. But that's just my opinion. Only telling it because it has not changed from so many releases.

The challenge is replicating the instructions to multiple CPUs and keeping them in sync - that is why it is taking so long -

Haven't they demonstrated functional SMP FT? A quick search revealed this link

http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2013/09/a-summary-of-whats-new-in-vsphere-5-5.html

Search for SMP and read the comments.  There was a technology preview at VMworld this last year, it seems, but release in a product is yet to come.

Cheers,

Mike

There is no official information from VMware as usual, but going by VMware's release cycle and since it's been announced a long time ago and they showed demos at last year's VMworld, I expect multi-vCPU FT to be actually released at the end of this year at VMworld with a new major vSphere release (probably 6.0).
