Hi.
I have a client who has DS5020 in Head office and DS3950 in DR site and we are planning to implement SRM 5 between sites
From VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Storage Partner Compatibility Matrix, I can see that IBM DS3000/DS4000/DS5000 is only compatible with SRM 4
http://www.vmware.com/support/srm/srm-storage-partners.html
Is it a matter of time to be compatible with SRM 5 ?
Thanks
The IBM DS series was made by LSI's Engenio storage group. This past year, this group of LSI was bought by NetApp and the product now sold by NetApp as the E-series line. IBM continues to sell the product re-branded as the DS-series as well. In talking with a NetApp representative, IBM should be coming out with an "IBM DS" SRA for SRM 5.0 at some point, but there is already an SRA for the NetApp E-series which I believe should work fine as long as you are up the level of firmware listed in the link you provided. In the dropdown, choose "NetApp E-Series (formerly LSI)" and you will see the SRA support for 4.X and 5.0.
I have yet to move to SRM 5.0 for my DS3500 pair, but I plan to in about two weeks. I plan to use the NetApp E-Series SRA since IBM hasn't released theirs yet.
The IBM DS series SRA for SRM 5 is now available. The version is actually slightly newer than the NetApp E-Series SRA. I've been working through problems with VMware support at various levels of SRM 5 since December, so I still don't have SRM 5 working with my DS series pair yet. Using the E-Series nor the IBM DS series SRA has solved my latest problem - enabling the array pairs gets to 46% and never finishes. I believe both should SRAs should work, but I haven't seen any release notes to see what is different between the two versions. The file sizes are different where there weren't for SRM 4.
NetApp E-Series SRA 5.00.3050.0017
IBM DS Series SRA 5.00.3550.0017
