We have no problem setting up a HA cluster containing 2 ESX 4.0 hosts. However, after adding a ESXi 4.1 host and setting up HA to contain all 3 hosts, HA shows failure due to Misconfiguration in the host network setup for the ESXi 4.1 host.
Remembering that mis-spell of network names could cause a HA setup failure, we proceed to rename the Management Network of the ESXi 4.1 host to Service Console in order to match the management network of the ESX 4.0. However, this does not help.
Are ESX and ESXi able to mix in a HA cluster in the first place? Any advise?

I was able to add the ESXi into the HA cluster after amending the DNS and Routing setting to match the ESX. Thanks for pointing me to the HA troubleshooting page. It is very helpful. I have awarded your reply as the answer.
