HA in vCenter 5.0 and ESXi 4.1

Hi guys,

I know that since v5.0 of vSphere HA DNS requirement is not needed anymore, but my customer have  only ESXi 4.1 managed by vCenter 5.0 ...

Wondering to know if in that particular case HA will work or not !!!

Thanks to let me know

Regards

Since vCenter Server 5.0 installs the new FDM agent on the hosts, it should not matter which ESXi host version you use.

PS: Discussion moved from vSphere Upgrade & Install to Availability: HA & FT

Hello JThesin,

technically if your hosts only ESXi 4.1 then there will be compatiblity issue with your vCenter 5.0,

vcenter5-ESXi41.JPG

compare to if you have ESXi4.1 U3 then should not be an issue in term of HA

basically based on your enviorment you can check compatibilty  with below link

thanks

vCenter 5.0 installs the FDM agent on your host, so no DNS requirement any longer. However, I would suggest using DNS as many other products / components might require it.

"concentrate the mind on the present moment"

--> vShield Manager

--> vSphere Replication

There are more out there, but with those two I had problems in the past.
