Thanks in advance for help.
We want to setup a Cluster with 3 ESXi 5.0 but several Virtual Machines are running in local storage (due we have shared storage full of VM).
We can setup and use HA and DRS with this situation?
We can try to create a test cluster in productión Virtual Center and after test remove it without any issue for VM, Hosts, Virtual Center??
one of the requirements for HA and DRS is shared storage. Without shared storage you cannot use HA/DRS
Welcome to the Community - You would have to move the virtual machines form local storage to the shared storage to protect them via HA and DRS -
There is no problem to create a cluster and then remove it you will need to disable DRS and HA before removing it -
hi, thanks for your answer.
We have shared storage. The 3 ESXi shared a iSCSI NAS, but they also have a lot of VM in local storage. Of course, we'll setup HA and DRS only for VM allocated in shared storage.
the guests on shared storage will be the only guests that are protected by HA and load balanced by DRS.
in order to remove a Test Cluster from a production Virtual Center .. when cluster is removed, Virtual Center remove also all hosts an VM in hosts from Inventory. Could be a problem with that with VM in a production stage??
if you want to leave the hosts in vCenter, but dissolve the cluster, simply disconnect the hosts, then drag and drop them into another cluster or datacenter, then connect the hosts back. After that you can delete the cluster. disconnecting the hosts will have no impact on any running guests.
If you want to remove the hosts from vCenter all together, disconnect the hosts, then "remove" the host and then remove the cluster
OK, thanks all ¡¡
