HA & DRS License ?

I have a cleint that is interested in the HA and DRS options but does not want to spend the extra money for VMotion.

My question is Doesn't HA use VMotion to work? Do they need a VMotion License? I am confused on what to sell them

HA does not need VMotion to work, but DRS does.

check this link for licensing:

http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/mid-size-and-enterprise-business/

Scroll down and find " Find the Edition that Fits your Needs"

there is a comparison chart there:

http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/mid-size-and-enterprise-business/buy.html

If your client needs DRS then minimum is Enterprise license.

As written before, no... HA does not require VMotion.

But require a shared storage and also vCenter Server for the setup of the HA Cluster.
