HA Cluster - Do you need to enable VM Startup and Shutdown w/ System?

I never got a straight answer on this relatively simple question.... When you have VM's in a HA cluster, do you need to enable VM startup and shutdown and switch the VM's from manual to automatic startup like on a single host or does HA take care of this?

Thanks!

The most important thing to consider is the restart priority, Incase of a host failure whether you want to restart one particular VM first and then the rest of them.

The startup/shutdown options are disabled if your guests are part of an HA cluster. Best you can do is set your restart priority.

I dun think you need that anymore in the HA cluster. the restart priority will do in this case

Thanks all for the helpful responses! From everything that i have read it can be left disabled and not need to be configured.

Thanks again!!

HA needn't set the vm's auto Startup or Shutdown, cause the HA monitor would monit the status of esx server,if it down, then try to power on the vm's in other esx server of the cluster
