ESX Up gradation from 3.5 to 4.0

Hi All,

  We running ESX 3.5 & VCenter 2.5 with HA and DRS, now we are planning to upgrade the same to 4.0.

  How can i upgrade the existing license (ESX 3.5 & VCenter 2.5) to 4.0??

if you are an authorized administrator for the license and that you have being paying support and subscription, you can login to My Account and generate the new license key

If you are current on SnS, your licenses were automatically converted into 4.x license keys in your VMware portal. In this case you can download the new license keys and install the new environment without the need to pay for any additional licenses.

If you don't have an active subscription you may ask your VMware reseller for the your Reinstatement Options. Depending on your needs and for how long the subscription has been expired, it may be cheaper to buy new licenses. VMware offers Essentials and Acceleration kits, which contain a certain number of CPU licenses as well as a license for vCenter Server.
