overcommittment of what? If memory yes FT will take advantage of all the tools that ESX provides for overcommitting memeory

Its contradicting, heard from an engineer

we explicitly require FT VMs to be fully committed. When you enable FT, we automatically increase the memory reservation to the full memory of the VM, and don't allow FT to be enabled if that's not possible."

By enabling FT, a full memory reservation of the VM memory is done.

So no memory overcommit.
