I just read the tech paper "Automation of SharePoint Provisioning and Deployment on VMware vSphere" that was publsihed back in June. Great paper--it walks you through the process, but when it gets to one of the last steps it links you to the NewSID tool from Microsoft. When you follow the link, you come to know that the tool was retired by Microsoft last month. There is another link to the blog of they guy who wrote the tool who explains that the whole duplicate SID issue was a myth and so that's why the tool was retired.
Has anybody tried using the process described in the document and not run NewSID.exe as part of it? Have you run into any issues?
Is VMware aware of the fact that this tool is no longer available from Microsoft?
