Use of CLI to Console into VM for automation

Hi,

I am currently looking at using a tool (such as iTest) to perform some sanity check on all the VMs on my ESXi environment. The process involves logging onto all the VMs through their respective console and then run certain commands and check if they are as expected, etc. However, the challenge I am facing is that in order to log into the console, I have to log into the ESXi server using GUI and then click on the respective console and enter a few combination before I can start executing the "sanity check" commands and this obviously is quite hard (not impossible but this option can be quite unreliable sometimes) to achieve using an automation tool.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used (or know of) some kind of command line or some text based protocol to achieve the above before and if so your help/pointers would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Divesh
