Create 2nd disk, (via SSH - PERL script?) 160 GB in size, for the VM, on the same DataStore that the C: drive exists on.

Hi Everybody,

Wish u everyone a happy new year, i have issue in scripting for this below scenario, kindly could anyone help me to resolve this...

ie: Script 1A script that could be run FROM a VM, that creates 2nd disk for that VM, on the ESX side.

PERL, VMware tools & SSH would already be installed on the VM.

The script would need to somehow....

1) Detect how that VM is known to the ESX server and detect the Name and or IP of the ESX server.

2) Create 2nd disk, (via SSH - PERL script?) 160 GB in size, for the VM, on the same DataStore that the C: drive exists on.

OK to prompt for credentials. I would eventually want to prompt for disk size.

The script may be deployed on VM that has no VC, so we cannot count on VC support.

Is it possible?

A 2nd script would need run against the windows side, to create the partition, format and label.

Thanks

Ajay
