I have recently imported an SQL content pack, and effected the agent parameters. I am able to collect logs from the SQL server, however some logs are not normalized thus unreadable. Is this a configuration issue or I need a plug in that will normalize the data?
yeah sure, my email address is Stevennk@hollard.co.za
Can you verify that your agent config is as shown below ?
[filelog|MSSQL]
; IMPORTANT: Change the directory as per the environment
directory=C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log
tags={"ms_product":"mssql"}
charset=UTF-16LE
exclude=*.trc;*.xel;*.mdmp;*.txt
The data is unreadable because some of the files that the SQL server generates are in UTF-8 not UTF-16 , however the UTF-8 files are not important to the content pack and should be in the exclude list of the agent config.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for the reply, I can confirm the agent configs are identical, and only the text row is unreadable with funny characters i.e question marks and percentages.
Is there a chance we can webex and I can take a look at your environment?
