vRops Migration

HI Guys,

I'm planning to build a new vRops  8.1 Environment  we have an old vrops which is in version 6.7.

Im planning to move the old files from my old vrops to the one?

Is it possible? or let me know the possible steps.

Hi,

No, you can't simple just move files from vROps 6.7 to vROps 8.1. A lot has changed in the meanwhile.

What is your reason to build a new environment and not upgrade 6.7?

In short what I would do:

1)

Check upgrade path -> VMware Product Interoperability Matrices

2)

Run upgrade assessment -> VMware Knowledge Base

3)

Bring vROps offline

4)

Make snapshot(s)

5)

Bring vROps online

6)

Install the upgrade pak files (based on the upgrade path from step 1)

7)

Verify your endpoints.

hi,

Because the first setup needs to be redesign so i want to get the data/ settings  or analytic data from the old and move it to the new one that im going to build. Is it possible?

As stated you cant just copy data between vrops versions.

You have two options

  1. Build new and add you customizations to it and leave for x weeks side by side then remove the 6.7
  2. Upgrade you 6.7 as stated above

vmware does not support the migration of analytic/historical data between vrops instances regardless of source and target version as far as i am aware
