vRealize Operations Management

Hi There are a few questions regarding management of vRealize:

For a start, this is an ongoing POC and we are using the per object evaluation license:

1. What does the Locked and shared status on the dashboard means?

2. Why in the Capacity overview, when they try to click (example) the 10 powered off VMs image, it doesn't open a tab directly to that 10 VMs?

3. Does this affects if we are using an object license instead of the per CPU licenses?

4. In the initial window, there is a portion that indicates savings in monetary format, can we edit this?

Thank you!

Answers to the below

  1. Someone has shared a dashboard with you but you are not the owner
  2. Not sure what dashboard you are looking at
  3. No the only effect is the number of objects you can monitor
  4. That is set during setup. Once set it cant be changes as far as i know

Can we change this portion? VROPs is already running and client wants to edit this value to reflect in their environment?

dashboard 2.JPG

Client wants to know why in some of the dashboards, it's only boxes with color coding (like this one is all red). Can this be edited to reflect the true meaning of the dashboard?

When they try to click one of the details, it doesn't open a tab to reveal what are the details are (example, this one doesn't show who are the powered off VMs)

follow this for changing the currency https://masteringvmware.com/how-to-change-currency-unit-in-vrealize-operations-manager/

Yes you can edit the dashboard to reflect the environment. The only ones you cant edit are the system dashboards. If they are in the dashboard tab then you can edit them. Not sure if it is still a thing but dont thing you can edit any dashboard if using standard vrops licencing. In your case hover over the test storage demand from all VMs and on the right there will be a pencil icon. click it to edit the widget. If you are going to customise it and any dashboard for that matter clone it and all the widgets first then change the cloned one. That way when you do an upgrade it will change the original one back to default but leave the cloned one alone

That overview dashboard (scoreboard widget) will not take you to any of the objects you click. Your best way to from the home screen expand optimise capacity and select the reclaim screen. select you datacenter and you will see powered off, idle and snapshots at the bottom
