vROPs 6.0 + Hyperic 5.8.4, who should manage email alerts?

In an environment that is running Hyperic 5.8.4 to monitor the OS of VMs that is connected to vROPs 6.0,  what is the preferred way of handling email alerts?   My preference would be to handle alerts in vROPs and just use Hyperic to collect the metrics.

I am still working through how alerting works in vROPs 6.0,  but it appears to be GUI based as opposed the the XML files that were needed for email alerts in 5.x.

Thanks,

-Matt

Use vR Ops for alerting. Hyperic should be treated as merely a data source, with metrics/conditions getting alerted on at the vR Ops side. As Hyperic gets tighter with vR Ops, you'll benefit from doing it this way.

Yes, emailFilter.xml is gone now and replaced by a nice GUI. This is a good thing.
