Will creation of VCOPS IP Pools affect existing configuration?

Hi,

Really need some expertise help here.

I have an existing "live" production environment running already with 1 Vc, 5 Hosts,15-20 vlans with 200 VMs running.

Now I wanted to run a test or trial on the VCOPS using this environment but was abit concern on the creation of the IP Pools.

Questions are:

1) What impact will this IP Pools do when done creating?

2) Will it mess up my existing vlans and IP address that are already assigned to my VMs?

3) Is it safe to run, as during the setup, the IP Pools are not "enable".

4) Is it ok to assigned the IP Pools range to the existing vlans?

Kindly enlighten me on what steps or configuration that I need to take note of.

Many Thanks.

Hi,

It is safe to create the pool and not to enable it.

It is only used to give the two vm's dns, mask, gateway information at vapp startup.

Ensure you associate the correct vlan with the pool.

Tip: sub net mask is in the format of 192.168.1.0 / 24

Hi Hugo,

Another question.

Do I set the IP Pools the same as my Hosts vlan so that I can monitor the all the VMs that have different vlans?
