Removal or Filtering of Bad Data Point?

vROPs 8.2

I'll probably come across other things like this in the future, but something that seems relatively simple right now...

I'm displaying historical data for the total number of VMs in an environment.  Twice in the past year, there are single data points where vROPs thinks there are 0 VMs.  This not only has the effect of having some ugly valleys in the graph, but also automatically zooms the scale way out.   Instead of a vertical scale encompassing a total swing of about 150 VMs, it now goes from 0 to 750.

Is there anyway way to manually edit those 2 data points, or filter them from the graph?

Hi,

Nope you can't edit old data and change the metrics (It might be possible for GS, but I don't think they'll do it.)

Maybe you could work around this by a super metric that checks the value and if its below 50 it would revert to a default value. But that also will only apply for future metrics.

Best it to check why those gaps are there in the first place.

I wrote a big long 'I thought Super Metrics were not useful for historical data, and if it is, then I'm trying to calculate something else entirely that I HAVE set up a super metric for, but it won't be useful for a few months'.... and then I went back and saw the 'only apply for future metrics'.

The issue with the bad data points looks to be.... maintenance.  Drat.
