I have been needing to get some insight on how vCOPS handles reporting on NFS based storage both in how it presents information in the Standard UI and also if there is any additional information seen when a customer has purchased advanced vCOPS outside of the ability to manipulate dashboard views of the same counters or KPIs.
I know vCOPS does a great job of reporting and troubleshooting FC or ISCSI but I am not sure how indepth it goes with NFS.
Are there metrics particular to NFS that you are looking for that are not there? The main storage metrics such commands per second / IOPs, throughput KBps, latency, etc. would be protocol agnostic and all display for any datastore in the main reports of the STandard UI regardless of storage protocol used to access the datastore.
Are you wanting to pull information from the physical switches over which NFS runs into the custom UI using a custom adapter?
So for the type of storage I am running it currently does not have a supported adapter for vCops. Which means I am looking to see how much of ESX TOP like data around NFS I can see in the Standard UI or I can create custom dashboards around for troubleshooting/Monitoring purposes in the Custom UI.
As for simple would be the straight forward like these nfsv3_ops, nfsv3_read_latency, nfsv3_read_ops, nfsv3_write_latency, nfsv3_write_ops. Which may be what is seen in the Standard UI. However the ESX Top like counters that I am wonder if they are logged in the Advanced or able to to viewed and coupled in the advance view is the below :
