Datastore Waste View

Hi all!

could someone explain to me the meaning of Idle Disk Space Used column in the view Datastore Waste (under Planning -> Views)?

There is a document that describes the meaning of the columns of these views?

Thank you all!

well it is the space occupied by idle virtual machines.

And the definition/settings for Idle VMs can be found in section 4a of Configuration->Manage policies screen

checkout this old blog post  ->  Rightsizing VMs using vCenter CapacityIQ – Part 1 | VMware Cloud Management - VMware B...

it's about CapacityIQ product (something that precedes vc_ops), but the basic concept for "idle vm" is still the same

hope that helps Smiley Happy

Let me know if I've understood...the Idle Disk Space Used could be useful to intercept all the "zombie disks" ...perhaps could be all the virtual machines which has been "removed from inventory" but not from datastore...is it correct? The counter only measures the IOPS but not the frequency (or the time elapsed since the last access from the disk).
