Application Monitoring - Exchange and SQL

Folks ,

    The datasheet for VCOPS says the enterprise edition can capacity plan Exchange and SQL server but I can't find any plug-ins or settings for this.

Dave, I like the marketing stuff.... but you would need to get the data into vcops first from a SCOM adapter based on your question. I am working on getting a lab 56 vapp with scom setup over the next few weeks and can update you on this when I get that done. But remember that vcops doesnt operate in a vacuum.... it must have lots of data input to get cross functional value from it.

Hi Dave,

  That capability comes through using Hyperic to collect metrics from the OS and applications, and then using the Hyperic adapter to pull that data into vC Ops.  I have a blog posting that shows how to configure this...

  You will need to use the custom UI (by going to http://<IP of UI VM>/custom) to build relationships between the vCenter and Hyperic resources, as well as custom dashboards showing your combined metrics in a single view.
