vcenter endpoint

Is using the vCenter appliance a supported endpoint?

I keep getting 401 unauthorized from the agent log

Sometimes I think you'll get that while the services are coming online... is it continual or does it go away after a few minutes?  When you setup the endpoint did you use the domain\username format?  I'd try messing with those and see if they clear up the issue.  I think the docs state it must be in that format.

its continual, the problem being that i'm using the root account on the vcenter server. should i use a domain account instead?

I'm not sure since I have never used the appliance but I am going to guess you might need to. Usually the root account is just for configuration on the appliances.  Give it a shot and see what happens

so I've tried using a domain account that is a vSphere admin and still get a 401

figured it out, one of the services on the IAAS server was stopped
