Nested Virtualization on linked clone deployments

Hi all,

We are using Vrealize 7.0 with a ESX6.0 backend for virtual online studentlabs.

Sometimes students deploy ESX-vm's or WindowsServer-vm's  and need nested virtualization to deploy vm's inside those vm's.

For our ESX-blueprint we use normal clone. In the template vmx-file the settings for nested virtualization are enabled.

And it works, students can deploy vm's inside their ESX-vm's

For our WindowsServer-blueprint we use linked-clones (since the templates are a lot bigger, it would use a lot of storage if deployed 200 times). In the template vmx-file the settings for nested virtualization are enabled.

But it doesnt work, deployments from this blueprint dont get the nested-virt settings in their vmx-file. And students are unable to create hyperv-vm's inside the windowsserver-vm.

It does not make sense to me. Why would linked-clone treat the copying of a vmx-file differently when deploying.

Anyone an idea what is going wrong?

This is no longer a problem for me in vRealize 7.3
