vmdk or vhd deployment?

Any guidance, or lesson's learned on which method we should move forward with? Assume infrastructure is capable either way.

Only time you would want to use VHD is when you are managing an unsupported hyper-visor or a physical machine. Other then that, you should use vmdk and have vsphere management the mounting of disk.

I cannot imagine mounting appstacks using CIFS. I would assume its terribly slow.
