user in two groups with two different application versions of the same package

As we create a new version of a package we have different groups assigned for testing. Sometimes we have a need to use an existing group vs our controlled dev, test, production groups.

How does AV determine which version of the layer gets presented if the user is in two different groups and each group has a different version of the layer assigned to it?

thanks,jb

For as far as I know if one is assigned to the current version (and thus assigned to the marker package) and one group is assigned to the package, the package assignment wins. I have tested this and it works if you assign the package to a specific user account, I haven't tested it with a group though but my guess is that it is the same.

Do keep in mind that this is only possible with version 4.x of Appvolumes.

That is correct,

AppVol 4.x marker has an assignment order.

  • Marker gets assigned is user is not directly assigned to a specific version of the Application
  • Specific assignment always wins over group assignment of an application version.
