Problems installing the 2.11 Agent

I'm getting an error message that MS Security package KB3033929 needs to be installed. This patch is already installed.

Anyone else seen this and have a solution?

The Windows Installer help for AppVolumes is also not very helpful:

Trying to install the agent on Windows 7 x64.

Did you install the KB3125574 convenience rollup? I found that appVolumes 2.11 installer doesn't like this.  You have to install all of the updates the old way (which takes forever).  I communicated this to the AppVolumes team @ Vmworld but haven't seen an updated installer.

My workaround in the lab was to edit the MSI and remove the reference to that patch.  I wouldn't do this in production (supportability..)

Please note that 2.11 Agent supports either Professional or Enterprise edition of Win 7 64.

What edition of Windows are you running? Also check if SP1 is installed.

You could try and use the Agent.msi? It might just skip the patch check before installation.

I have never seen any prereq not letting me install the agent to be honest. I was always able to install the agent.

Older versions work fine, but not the latest one. Not sure where I can find an agent.msi file:

The files you printscreened there are the UEM (formerly known as Immidio FlexProfiles Smiley Happy) files.

When you download the zip file from the site (Appvolumes 2.11 that is) you should see a folder named Installation\Agent. In that folder the App Volumes Agent.msi resides.

You can also use that to install the agent on your machine.

Thank you pchapman!

That was indeed my problem and the 2.11 agent installed just fine now. Smiley Happy

I did also report an SR to VMware on this issue so I'm also curiously waiting to see if they have an official solution to this problem.

..and VMware support told me to uninstall the KB3125574 convenience rollup and install the security rollup before installing the agent. Yep, that will surely work. No doubt about that.
