I've been trying to do lots of reading about office in an Appstack but there is one piece that I guess I'm just missing and I cannot find out.
I want to have Office on the Gold Image and then put Visio and Project in as AppStack options
and from what I read this means I have to have three AppStacks:
1) Visio
2) Project
3) Visio and Project
and that is ok I can work with this... it seems very common but the one question I cannot seem to find an answer about is:
With Office on the gold image and deployed out into the pool... do I need to have the same office installed on the Appstack Provisioning machine before I attach the Appstack and install Visio, Project and then Viso and Project?
or
Should the Provisioning machine have no office installed on it when I run the set up for the other Office products?
I just worry about common componants being duplicated or conflicting.. I don't know what the process is or at least the best process
Please let me know thank you
Bryan
It is suggested to install Office on the Provision VM before capturing Project/Visio. For example: To deploy Visio Professional 2013 to machines that contain Office Professional 2013 in the OS base, capture Visio Professional 2013 on a machine that already has Office Professional 2013 installed.
Instead of installing office manually on the provision VM, the simple way is to clone the gold image and install App Volumes Agent and snapshot the VM for provisioning.
Please have a look at this KB for more details.
