Office 365 - HELP!!!!!!!!

Hello

We have been trying to package O365 with AppVolumes v2.12 for a number of weeks, and we seem to be getting nowhere. I have read VMware App Volumes Provisioning Recipe for Microsoft Office 365.pdf and also KB2146035

  • I create a Configuration.xml file using the Office 365 Download, which included the SharedComputer=1 setting for nonpersistent VDI.
  • I run the Setup.exe /download configuration.xml command, which downloads the CTR package.
  • I create a new AppStack and mount it to our provisioning desktop
  • I install O365 using the Setup.exe /configure configuration.xml command which successfully installs Office 2016
  • I do NOT open any apps and complete the install

When I distribute the AppStack, a user opens Word (or any other App) and gets prompted for their O365 logon (e-mail address). They logon, but then get a spinning grey circle which never goes away and Word never loads. The same use can logon to a physical desktop using O365 successfully.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before? And can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Does anyone have this working to a usable level?  Here is what I have found during my extensive testing...

O365 on Base Image

I install O365 Core (no Project or Visio) on a Windows 7 Gold Image using -  setup.exe /configure /configuration.xml

I create a non-persistent floating pool - This works fine.

O365 in AppStack

I have yet to get anything working properly in an AppStack.

  • The installation, completed as per the installation for the gold image completes successfully,
  • The AppStack is attached during logon
  • The O365 Apps are present on the machine
  • I launch Word 2016 and am presented with my logon details
  • I enter my credentials
  • I am presented with a grey box and a spinning wheel....This is the EXACT same account that logged in successfully with O365 in the base image!
  • If I leave it long enough, it SOMETIMES logs in, however this may take up to 6minutes. Its pretty much instant when in the base image.

Does anyone have O365 working as expected on AppVolumes AppStacks?

This is NOT a new product, so surely someone out there has this working? I have raised a P2 issue with VMwae regarding AppVOlumes and O365. Its been open a week now and I have only just got a response offering a Webex. I will update here if we do manage to fix all these issues

The blog does help with certain issues within Office 365 x86 like macros not working, or certain addons failing, but it doesn't seem to help with having Office 365 on the base image and having Visio in an appstack.
