Hi all,
Have been testing App Volumes for several weeks & am now preparing/documenting the Production installation.
I notice in the GUI there is a 'Mount On Host' option for the App Volumes Manager to connect directly to an ESX host for mount operations, rather than doing so through vCenter. There's not a lot of info about this option though, other than it requires a local ESX account. By default this feature won't work for us, as the root account passwords for all our Hosts are different. I would be happy to create a local account on each Host - only though if I can tie it down to the minimum required permissions.
Does anyone happen to know what the minimum permissions are that would be required on each Host for the 'Mount On Host' option to work? This would save me a lot of trial & error to find out! I know that required permissions are given in the GUI (which we've already implemented) but these are for the AppV service account against vCenter & not, seemingly, for the Mount On Host setting.
Many thanks
Here are the perms required for vCenter to do everything. Some of the wording is a little off as this is for 5.1 and I think some names have changed from 5.1- 5.5. Also for obvious reasons the password need to match across hosts. Just making sure that was clear.
