Is anyone having trouble deleting an Appstack from the GUI in AppVolumes 3.X? I don't see any delete button at all.
I have been experimenting with the capturing process and have only 3 appstacks: Office 2016, Firefox, and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. I want to delete everything and start over but I can't? How is this not a possibility?
I figured I'd go to the location on the appliance and delete the vmdk, but there was nothing there.
So far I have seen that Appvolumes 3.X has VERY limited functionality. Luckily we aren't rolling this out yet. We are testing it at my shop and being able to delete and readd Appstacks is kind of important.
Anyways thank you to anyone who can help or shed some light as to what to do.
Currently AV 3 is very limited, at least from my testing and the general lack of posts about it here. As you noticed, there is currently not an option to delete AppStacks in AV3. I have read that technical support has a script they can offer you, although I have not done so.
I am prepping for a new View deployment in which I had hoped to use AV 3 along with EUM 9 (until the AV 3 can reach feature parity in this area), but VMware is no longer recommending deploying AV3 for Production use.
The published documents are now steering deployments to AV 2.11 (which just recently added support for Instant Clones).
See #3 in the following link about not being able to delete AppStacks: http://pubs.vmware.com/appvolumes-30/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/tips-user-application-management.pd...
Also see the section titled "What Happened to App Volumes 3?": http://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/products/appvolumes/vmware-appvolum...
It would be nice to have an idea on when the next release of App Volumes 3 will be. There is still marketing material out there that makes it sound like it is ready for prime time.

You can delete app stack by using PowerShell script which I got from Vmware support
Run the powerShell and point to attached script and put this command " .\Delete-Applications.ps1 -xmpAddress ipadressofAV -domain shortnameofdomain -username username -password Password -applicationNames "Google Chrome"
Note - Make sure the appstack should be unassign or deleted from AV
Please reply the out come! Good Luck
I agree with you guys 100%. I'm very glad that I decided to control my hype on the release of 3.0 and kept it POC. I'm currently on 2.10 and like it a lot because of the functionality. I remember reading somewhere that there's a legacy UI page you can access by changing the port on the address bar, but I forgot what port it was. Although this can be done, I read that it isn't recommended at all by VMware.
What I did do besides using the powershell script you are mentioning, was using the Fling app created by Chris Halstead called "App Volumes Toolbox". This not only deleted the .vmdks from the share, but deleted them from the internal database which is what I originally wanted to do. The fling can be located here if anyone wants to have a go at it. It supports 2.x and 3.x.
Hopefully this helps anyone with their issues. Thanks a lot for your input on this. I will be eagerly awaiting future updates to 3.x
Yes, AV3.0 is very limited.
The current recommendation is to keep your production deployment in the 2.X line.
You are welcome to try AV3.0 in your test labs for evaluation.
