Computer startup over HTTP failed: error 1000

I'm testing an upgrade from version 2.9 to 2.10 so I can upgrade our ESXi hosts to 6.0u2 to solve the issue of slow attachment of multiple appstacks.  However, I'm getting this error on about half of my desktops.  I've tried both 2012R2 and 2008R2 for the management server.  It's installed with local SQL.  The desktops are Windows 7, floating linked clone pool.  Seems like initially it shows a "HttpInitializeRequest: Manager status 200 response (2 bytes): OK" but then tries again "Computer startup over HTTP failed: error 1000".  Once that fails virtualization is disabled and no appstacks will attach.

I have logs from two desktops, one success one fail:

Just curious is anyone else is seeing this with 2.10 and if you have, how did you fix it?

Could it be that you are using some sort of power management on the VDI's? It seems as if the machine is unable to reach the Appvolumes HTTP service for whatever reason as the log that shows succes connects withion a split second so the server doesn't seem to be to busy.

Maybe you are trying to attach an appstack that has some sort of firewall rule in it??

I have found that if I simply restart the service on the VMs the service connects to the manager correctly.  Is it possible the VMs are starting too fast?  I would like to change the service from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start) however when I try it says "The delayed auto-start flag could not be set. Error 87: The parameter is incorrect".  I'm trying now to see if I can get around that and test

I was able to delay the service however it didn't seem to help.  Still only about 50% working.

We seem to have a similar issue.  We've narrowed it down to a couple pools where the common denominators of the broken pools are IE 11 and .Net 4.5.2.  The pools that are working are IE8 and .Net 4.0

I know those aren't ODD versions to be using so I'm not saying it's that, simply that those are the major differences between the pools.

Were you able to fix your issue yet?

(BTW: Hi Ray, I'm Ed Ansbro's co worker)

I have not been able to fix this yet, but I have started testing again now that I have upgraded to 2.11.  My desktop is IE11 with .net 4.6.1.  The firewall is disabled on the parent image as well as in our domain GPO so I don't think it's a firewall issue. I'm going to disable all power saving options on the parent VM to see if that helps.  I'll let you know what I find.

On the parent image this was set to allow the computer to turn off the device.  I have unchecked that option and since I have done that I have not had the same issue.  I have only tested a handful of times so I will continue to do so.  I have some time today to test again so hopefully I can report back yet today.

Marking you as the correct answer.  I have done several tests and I no longer see that error now that power management has been disabled for the network driver.

Thanks!
